Preventative Body Maintenance (PBM)

WHAT IS IT?

The Preventative Body Maintenance (PBM) program is a trademarked service developed specifically by IHMS that allows for the early intervention education of musculoskeletal concerns that when ignored can lead to work-related muscle and joint injuries.  This works on a common sense principle that if employees have a resource to address their musculoskeletal concerns before they impact their ability to perform their job, or their home life, then injuries can be prevented.  As a result, workers are healthier and therefore more productive.  This has been shown to significantly impact a company’s workers' compensation claims and OSHA recordable injuries, which directly impacts a company’s mod rating and workers' compensation premiums.

WHAT is INCLUDEd?

cost savings:

Based on the Department of Labor, 80% of work-related injuries are related to the postures, techniques and positions that the worker chooses to use when performing the job that puts them at risk for injury.

In 2014, the Vermont Department of Labor outlined the average cost per work injury as follows:

*These were the direct costs of a workplace injury; and it has been estimated that the indirect cost is 3 to 5 times greater than the direct cost.  Therefore, preventing even one injury saves your company money that can be better spent on employees and innovation.
