WORK STATION ERGONOMIC ASSESSMENT AND RECOMMENDATION
This is a service tool that allows an employer to find the potential ergonomic and musculoskeletal problems before they impact on productivity and worker comfort and health.
A registered physical or occupational therapist trained in ergonomics will walk through your facility observing workers' at their workstation and make suggestions that can improve productivity and worker comfort. These meetings typically will take at least 30 minutes. Included in the recommendations are solutions to improve the set-up with the equipment that is currently available as well as equipment recommendations that would improve the workers set-up.
Areas addressed include chair adjustments, keyboard and mouse positions, instruction on keyboard tray use if applicable, monitor height and distance adjustment, assistive work device recommendations as well as worker posture job coaching.
The physical or occupational therapist will make suggestion on appropriate workstation changes to improve the comfort for each worker. Additional recommendations can be made for adjustability options to accommodate multi-user stations. The goal of these evaluations is to "catch" potential problems early and prevent injuries. These visits can include:
- Evaluation of workstations to ensure proper ergonomic set up with recommendations to decrease cumulative effects and risks of injury associated with poor postures or workstation design.
- Education of workers on safe work practices and allow for coaching during actual work duties.
- Provide companies with the resources needed to be pro-active in injury prevention of soft tissue injuries.
- Ergonomic problem solving.
